This membrane is called the conjunctiva. When small blood vessels in the conjunctiva become swollen and irritated, they’re more visible. This is what causes the whites of the eyes to appear reddish or pink.
Constipation is where you have changes to how you poo, including not pooing as often or finding it hard to poo. It’s common and it affects people of all ages.
Cystitis is the medical term for inflammation of the bladder. Inflammation is when a part of your body is swollen and hot. It can also be painful.
Most of the time, cystitis happens when there’s an infection caused by bacteria. This is called a urinary tract infection (UTI). Having a bladder infection can be painful and annoying. It can become a serious health problem if the infection spreads to your kidneys.
An ear infection (sometimes called acute otitis media) is an infection of the middle ear, the air-filled space behind the eardrum that contains the tiny vibrating bones of the ear. Children are more likely than adults to get ear infections.
Flu, also called influenza, is an infection of the nose, throat and lungs, which are part of the respiratory system. The flu is caused by a virus. Influenza is commonly called the flu, but it’s different from the stomach “flu” viruses that cause diarrhea and vomiting.

The pinworm is a common intestinal parasite. People may also refer to pinworms as threadworms. They mostly occur in children and lead to itching around the anus. A threadworm infestation is known as enterobiasis.
Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils at the sides of your throat. It’s a common childhood illness, but teenagers and adults can get it too.
